Unlike enamel, which is applied on top of the metal, inlaid jewelry involves hand-cutting and hand-setting small pieces of precious gem-stones to create an intricate, predetermined mosaic pattern. Highly skilled artisans follow the designer's "map" with painstaking precision and attention to detail.

Each piece of Asch/Grossbardt inlaid jewelry is a study in superb craftsmanship. Once every stone is set, the piece is lapped on a wheel until it is so smooth that if you close your eyes and run your finger over the surface, it is impossible to tell where one stone ends and another begins.

Luminous Mother-of-Pearl is paired with jet black Onyx; marine blue Lapis sits side by side with the majestic purple of Sugilite.
