St. John's fish and chips all-stars-Ches's on Freshwater Road-celebrated their Golden Anniversary in October, 2001, and to commemorate the milestone Kathy and Bob Barbour, second-generation proprietors and the original Ches's daughter and son, commissioned Diamond Design to create a unique piece of jewellery.

Their idea was to feature a bar of 24-karat gold to symbolize their family's half-century in business. Pat and his Diamond Design team took their theme, fabricated a pure-gold ingot, then engaged highly sought-after Oriental jewellery engraver Issio to hand-engrave the ingot.
