DESIGNING YOUR JEWELLERY

Creating a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery - whether the piece is born of an idea, a dream, or from a desire to have a family piece redesigned to better suit its owner - is a special process that has its own process and its own great rewards.

At Diamond Design, when you come to us for this service, our aim is to make the design process easy. Ideally, you’ll have already thought through some of the steps we’ve outlined below. Then, when you come for a consultation, we’ll go through the process together, honing your objectives, determining the essence of what you want - which will enable us create a piece of jewellery for you that is “absolutely perfect.”

1. DETERMINING YOUR INTENTIONS

First, determine your intentions for the piece, reflect on your motivations - and consider both the obvious and the not-so-obvious. Ask yourself these questions, for example:

How special should the piece be?
Do you want it to be the kind of piece that will be passed on as an heirloom, a cherished keepsake?
Does creating it suit the occasion you want to mark?

2. BUDGET

It’s essential to set a budget for the project - but not to worry that you won’t get something memorable if you can’t spend as much as you’d like. Diamond Design's in-house designers can transform your thoughts and ideas into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece in gold, silver, or platinum - and keep it within your price range, but your financial objectives should be established before we begin. Custom projects normally begin at $350. and continue from there.

3. MAKING AN APPOINTMENT

This is an important consultation for you - so to ensure the best use of your time and that one of our designers will be free to devote his or her full attention to you, make an appointment before you come in. You can do this by calling us (at 709/754-9497 or 1-888-220-GEMS toll free), or by clicking here to E-mail us. There is no charge for a consultation.

4. USING THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY

At Diamond Design, the process of designing jewellery is made smoother by the use of our GemVision technology - a computer-aided design (or CAD) program - that provides us with a photo library and design samples. If you’re reading this screen on-line then you can also view some of our numerous digitized jewellery and ring galleries ahead of time, by clicking on the Photo Galleries on this web site. This will help you begin to determine what characteristics, shapes, and styles of jewellery you like best. Make a note of them before you come in.

5. YOUR INPUT IS IMPORTANT

The design process begins with these steps - but you can bring any ideas you like from other sources (magazines, other pieces you’ve seen), ask any question at all - and we’ll contribute the experience of our designers and goldsmiths. At Diamond Design, our team is extensively trained in jewellery design and fabrication. This training and experience allows us to follow all the paths that lead to giving you optimum satisfaction.

6. HAVE FUN!

Most important of all -- relax! This is supposed to be fun. We’ll certainly do our best to help you enjoy the process.
